Job summary

Ascend Learning, LLC is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to provide technical security leadership across programs, ensure IT security and compliance, and guide multiple teams in applying best practices. You’ll own CrowdStrike platforms, design IOAs, and optimize detections while maintaining operations across diverse environments.

The role offers remote US-wide work with a strong emphasis on collaboration, threat hunting, and rapid incident response in a fast-paced security program.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, network security, and/or infrastructure engineering.
• Demonstrated success using CrowdStrike AI‑driven features and behavioral detections in production environments.
• 5+ years of experience in CrowdStrike policy administration, building & maintaining IOAs, creating & managing custom workflows, and scheduled searches.
• CrowdStrike certifications preferred.
• Strong experience supporting or partnering with Security Operations and Incident Response teams.
• Experience working in enterprise environments with diverse endpoint operating systems and configurations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Technology Engineers, Developers, IT Compliance, and cross-functional stakeholders to align security requirements and controls to meet business objectives.
• Functions as the primary technical owner and SME for the CrowdStrike platform including Falcon, Fusion SOAR, Identity Protection, LogScale, NextGen SIEM, etc.
• Designs, builds, and maintains custom IOAs aligned to evolving threat activity, adversary techniques, and organizational risk.
• Configures and optimizes Falcon workflows, automated responses, and policy logic to improve detection fidelity and response speed.
• Leverages CrowdStrike AI agents and behavioral analytics to enhance detection, containment, and threat prevention capabilities.
• Continuously tunes Falcon detections to reduce false positives while maintaining strong security coverage.
• Performs deep-dive investigations using endpoint telemetry, process execution data, and behavioral indicators within Falcon.
• Documents engineering decisions, detection logic, workflows, and best practices to ensure operational continuity.
• Assists with the implementation, configuration and operations of various security tools as required.
• Triages SOC alerts and phishing emails, resolves employee tickets, and participates in a limited on-call rotation as needed
