Job summary

K&L Gates LLP, a global law firm, seeks a Senior Security Engineer to design, implement and enhance security across cloud, on‑premises and hybrid environments. You will lead detection, analytics, and automation initiatives, working with enterprise security teams and partners.

Requirements include 7+ years in security, cloud platforms such as Microsoft Defender and Azure, and advanced scripting skills in PowerShell and Python.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and maturing enterprise security, cloud security and DevSecOps.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Understanding of Zero Trust concepts, authentication, encryption, and data protection.
• Knowledge of SIEM/EDR/XDR and cloud security monitoring technologies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft security and cloud platforms (Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, Purview, Azure).
• 7+ years in cybersecurity or related tech fields; SOC experience is a plus.
• Relevant certifications (CISSP, CCSP, GIAC, Microsoft Security, Azure, Splunk, CrowdStrike).
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, or similar.
• Ability to lead security investigations, threat hunting and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and support DevSecOps practices across cloud, on‑premises, and hybrid environments.
• Develop scalable automation to improve security operations and reduce manual effort.
• Create automation using PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, and cloud-native tech.
• Implement and optimize Azure security controls, identity protections and data security.
• Develop and maintain security detections, analytics, and threat monitoring.
• Lead or support complex investigations, threat hunting and incident response.
• Evaluate emerging security/AI tech and advise on secure architectural choices.
