Job summary

K&L Gates is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to design, automate, and enhance security for cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. The Senior Security Engineer develops, automates, and enhances security capabilities for cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.

This position provides senior-level expertise in security engineering, cloud security, detection engineering, automation, incident response, and technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Enterprise security, cloud security, and DevSecOps capabilities design and implementation.
• Understanding Zero Trust concepts, encryption, identity security, and data protection.
• Experience with SIEM/EDR/XDR and cloud security monitoring technologies.
• 7+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience.
• Experience with Microsoft security and cloud platforms such as Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, and Azure security services.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support DevSecOps practices.
• Design and enhance security solutions across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
• Develop scalable automation to improve security operations and reduce manual effort.
• Create automation using PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, and Microsoft Graph.
• Implement and optimize Azure security controls and identity protections.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams on security.
• Develop and refine detections, analytics, and threat monitoring capabilities.
• Improve security visibility through telemetry, logging, and attack surface monitoring.
• Apply MITRE ATT&CK framework to strengthen detection and response.
• Lead or support complex investigations, threat hunting, and major incidents.
• Conduct security assessments and penetration testing support.
• Evaluate emerging security and AI technologies and recommend solutions.
• Lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and provide architecture guidance.
