Job summary

AspenView Technology Partners seeks a Senior Security Engineer to elevate detection and response for a US higher-education client. You will own security operations, drive in-house capabilities, and directly interface with the CIO to implement proactive improvements.

Lead vulnerability and infrastructure management, harden Azure workloads, and develop runbooks and documentation to ensure continuity. This role requires a hands-on leader comfortable with complex security environments.

Qualifications

• Six or more years in security engineering or security operations, with at least two years running a SIEM in production.
• Hands-on experience with Azure security and KQL; ability to walk through a past incident end-to-end.
• Fluent English, able to brief a CIO directly in writing and on a call.
• Proactive and accountable; you own the problem and act as a dedicated partner to the client.
• Availability to work US Central hours as standard day.

Responsibilities

• Security Operations & Incident Response: Own Microsoft Sentinel, including detection content, analytics rules, data connectors, and ingestion costs across an Azure-first estate; Manage incident response end-to-end; Establish severity tiering to ensure critical failures reach a human.
