Iridium Communications Inc is seeking a Principal Security Engineer to join at the earliest stage of a new security service. You will apply adversarial and architectural expertise to defend design choices from day one and work as a technical peer to engineering.

This role leads red‑team style assessments, threat modeling, and collaboration with product and partner teams to embed security across cloud, identity, and device interactions, while mentoring others and helping establish security

Qualifications

• 10+ years in network and information security with red team experience.
• Strong hands-on AWS security fundamentals (IAM, VPC, misconfigurations).
• Deep knowledge of SAML, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, WebAuthn, CTAP.

Responsibilities

• Security Architecture & Threat Modeling: analyze AWS-based cloud infrastructure, APIs and services to identify attack paths and translate findings into defensive priorities.
• Adversarial Testing & Red Team Assessments: conduct or commission red-team style assessments spanning network, app, cloud config, identity flows, and supply-chain vectors.
• Identity & Access Flow Security: evaluate integrations with partner IAM systems and strengthen step-up authentication and assurance contexts.
• Cross-Functional & External Influence: act as tier-2 security SME in partner/customer conversations and collaborate with engineering, product, and partner-facing teams.
• Foundational Security Practices & Mentorship: establish early security practices, lightweight processes and standards; mentor engineers as the capability grows.
