Job summary

Office of the Illinois Secretary of State is seeking a Senior Legal Advisor– Securities Department in the Enforcement Division. The role supervises staff attorneys, conducts investigations, drafts legal documents, and coordinates with state and federal agencies to enforce securities laws.

The position requires a license to practice law in Illinois and at least three years of professional experience, with extensive knowledge of administrative and regulatory law, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

Requires licensure to practice law in Illinois and at least 3 years of professional legal experience.
Extensive knowledge of state and federal administrative and regulatory law.
Ability to supervise staff and coordinate investigations.
Willingness to travel statewide and possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the activities of the legal staff in hearings and investigations.
Investigate suspected securities violations; issue subpoenas and conduct depositions.
Represent the department in hearings; present evidence and arguments to hearing officers.
Advise department officials on policy, rules, and regulatory procedures; draft memoranda of law.
