Job summary

HP is seeking a System Embedded Software Engineer — Security to design, develop, and validate secure embedded software, firmware, and drivers for HP commercial PC platforms. You will embed security into the firmware lifecycle, including secure boot, cryptographic services, device onboarding, and update protection.

You will collaborate with hardware, BIOS, firmware, software, and security teams to identify risks, define requirements, and remediate vulnerabilities before release, while documenting

Qualifications

• 10+ years in embedded software, firmware, driver development, or product security with hands-on secure firmware delivery.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of embedded security concepts and secure development lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of secure embedded software, firmware, and driver components for commercial PC platforms.
• Define security requirements for firmware features, interfaces, update mechanisms, device identity, and onboarding flows.
• Perform threat modeling, risk assessments, and secure design reviews across firmware architectures.
• Implement and validate secure boot, measured boot, cryptographic protocols, key management, and update protection.
• Investigate and remediate firmware security issues found via testing, fuzzing, static analysis, or external reports.
• Collaborate with hardware, BIOS, OS, firmware, and cybersecurity teams to ensure end-to-end protection.
