Job summary

Bitwarden is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Secrets Manager & AI Identity in an all-remote US-based team. You will lead the design and development of the next-generation privileged access platform, owning gateway services, terminal access, and auditing across security, scalability, and user experience.

You will work in a true ownership model, shipping secure-by-default patterns and contributing to open-source security ecosystems.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of software engineering experience with team leadership.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Delivery: design, develop, test, deploy, and operate secure gateway controls and audited terminal logins.
• Decoupled Architecture: maintain strict service boundaries and resilient APIs for PAM on core platform infrastructure.
• Upstream Collaboration: work with Product, Design, and Engineering to validate solutions before coding.
• Automated Quality: build robust automated test suites, integration harnesses, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Operational Stewardship: own health, performance, and telemetry; participate in on-call rotations and postmortems.
• Documentation: create internal architecture specs, API contracts, and external open-source docs.
