Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve our Search backend, focusing on ingestion, ranking, and experiments with Algolia and related tooling. You’ll collaborate with product/design/devops to ship reliable, scalable features and lead performance improvements across the platform.

The role is remote, with an on-site requirement for residents within 45 miles of Westlake/Dallas, TX, requiring Tue-Thu on-site and flexibility on Mon/Fri.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience (or 6+ with advanced degree).
• Experience building software with Python, TypeScript (Node), and Postgres.
• Experience designing and building public or shared APIs.
• Experience delivering software frequently and building robust deployment pipelines.
• Strong collaboration, mentorship, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Remote role with on-site requirement for Westlake/Dallas, TX within 45 miles.

Responsibilities

• Own the company’s Search backend system.
• Manage a reliable, scalable product with uptime and performance focus.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and DevOps to ship impactful features.
• Design, implement, and analyze experiments on the search stack.
• Interface with multiple teams for data ingestion/production use across the platform.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive improvements.
