Job summary

Sophos is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to shape the next generation of the XGS Firewall control plane. You will own the end-to-end test strategy, focusing on APIs, scale, security, and performance in a globally distributed engineering team.

You will design and build test automation frameworks using Python, lead API and system-level automation, and mentor engineers to raise quality and efficiency across Sophos networking products.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of overall experience with hands-on test automation.
• Solid experience testing networking products such as Firewalls, Switches, Routers.
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols.
• Proven experience with API testing (REST and gRPC) and automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end test strategy for the firewall control plane, covering functionality, APIs, scale, performance, and security.
• Design, develop, and evolve test automation frameworks and tools using Python-based technologies.
• Lead API, CLI, and system-level automation for complex networking solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive adoption of new testing tools and best practices.
• Collaborate with Development, QE, and Support to triage, reproduce, and verify fixes in lab environments.
