Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET) in the RTP NC area to support a cybersecurity and compliance-focused platform. The role will own automation strategy and quality initiatives across web apps, APIs, and backend services.

This long-term, open-ended contract emphasizes building scalable test frameworks and integrating quality controls into CI/CD pipelines to drive observability and software quality throughout delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
• 5+ years of experience as an SDET or senior quality engineer.
• Proven track record of designing and building a test automation framework from scratch.
• Strong coding skills in Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience testing APIs, enterprise apps, distributed systems, and CI/CD-driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the testing approach for a platform used to manage certification programs, milestones, deliverables, and reporting.
• Develop scalable automation solutions for web apps, APIs, backend services, and data workflows.
• Create comprehensive test suites covering user workflows, integrations, reporting, notifications, and system accuracy.
• Work with engineering teams to integrate automated quality controls into CI/CD processes and release pipelines.
• Analyze defects, improve reliability, and champion best practices for testability and observability.
