We are a subcontractor supporting a prime contractor on a large U.S. Government Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) program: Machine-assisted Analytic Rapid-repository System (MARS). MARS is DIA's cloud-based modernization of foundational military intelligence to replace static databases with a scalable environment that uses automation, analytics, and AI/ML so analysts can work at greater speed and scale.

Tom Sawyer Software is seeking a Senior Scrum Master to guide an engineering team through the software development lifecycle using Agile and Scrum best practices. This role will facilitate team ceremonies, foster open communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, and ensure the team stays focused on high-priority tasks while remaining flexible and open to opportunities for the team to improve their workflow.

This position requires a TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph, as well as strong communication, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of Agile principles and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Remote work in the USA is acceptable, with occasional travel required to work onsite with the prime, government stakeholders, and other subcontractors.

• Lead and facilitate scrum events including daily scrums, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives

• Coach and mentor the team on Scrum principles, practices, and values, helping them improve their processes and become more effective


• Promote and champion Agile methodologies, ensuring the team understands and adheres to Agile values, principles, and practices


• Foster communication and collaboration within the team and with stakeholders


• Shield the team from external distractions and interruptions, allowing them to focus on their work


• Track progress, identify risks, and help the team mitigate potential problems


• Promote transparency by facilitating communication and ensuring the team has the information they need to be successful


• Assist the Product Owner in backlog prioritization and ensure the team has a clear understanding of the product vision


• Attend quarterly planning meetings in person in the NCR

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree


• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior Scrum Master


• TS/SCI with CI PolySecurity Clearance required


• Deep understanding of Agile and SAFe principles and practices


• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Strong facilitation and coaching skills


• Strong problem-solving, analytical and conflict-resolution skills


• Ability to lead and motivate while also serving the team's needs


• Ability to lead and facilitate Scrum ceremonies


• Experience with Agile project management tools, such as Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Certification in Agile methodologies, like Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM)


• SAFe certification is a plus
