We are looking for a Senior Scrum Master to join our client from the pharmaceutical industry and help establish and strengthen Agile ways of working within a team developing AI-driven solutions. In this role, you will support a growing product organization by enabling effective collaboration, fostering continuous improvement, and helping teams deliver value in a complex and fast-paced environment. As a servant leader and coach, you will work closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to build strong Scrum practices and support successful product delivery.
What you will do:
- Establish and continuously improve the team's Scrum operating model, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective and backlog refinement.
- Ensure Scrum events are purposeful, well facilitated and kept within their time-boxes.
- Establish a meaningful retrospective every sprint, with improvement actions assigned, tracked and followed through.
- Coach the team toward greater self-management, accountability and cross-functional collaboration.
- Help create an ownership culture in which team members investigate and resolve issues beyond narrow task boundaries.
- Reduce unnecessary context switching and support sustainable ownership of solutions and technical domains.
- Removing impediments.
- Identify, track and help remove impediments affecting delivery.
- Make dependencies, blocked items and ageing impediments visible and ensure clear owners are assigned.
- Escalate organizational or cross-team barriers that the Scrum Team cannot resolve itself.
- Address recurring sources of delay such as incomplete requirements, review bottlenecks, environment constraints, access issues and cross-solution dependencies.
- Sustainable delivery and capacity
- Ensure sprint planning reflects actual team capacity, including production support, incidents, planned absence and other operational commitments.
- Make over-commitment visible before sprint or programme commitments are made.
- Help the team maintain a sustainable balance between feature delivery, production stability, technical debt and quality improvement.
- Facilitate evidence-based conversations when demand exceeds available capacity.
- Supporting the Product Owners
- Help establish effective Product Backlog refinement and planning practices.
- Support the Business Product Owner and Technical Product Owner in maintaining an appropriately refined and transparent backlog.
- Coach the team on effective decomposition, estimation and readiness practices without taking ownership of requirements or backlog ordering.
- Facilitate conversations between business, product, technical and engineering stakeholders when scope, dependencies or capacity need to be reconciled.
- Facilitate consistent use of measures such as velocity, capacity, sprint burndown, product burnup, cycle time and forecast reliability.
- Help the team and product roles interpret these measures appropriately rather than using them as individual performance targets.
- Improve estimation and forecasting practices for work involving AI components, multi-language requirements and technical uncertainty.
- Provide leadership with a consistent view of delivery status, capacity, impediments and risk using the same underlying information available to the team.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 7 years in agile software delivery, including at least 4 years as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach.
- Proven experience establishing or significantly improving Scrum practice within an existing software product team.
- Strong servant-leadership and coaching capability, with evidence of improving team effectiveness without relying on command-and-control management.
- Experience supporting teams operating under sustained delivery and production pressure.
- Strong working knowledge of Jira, including boards, workflows and delivery reporting.
- Experience introducing reliable capacity planning, forecasting and delivery metrics.
- Sufficient technical understanding to engage credibly with engineers, product professionals and architects without needing to act as the team's technical authority.
- Ability to challenge senior stakeholders and vendor management constructively.
- Strong facilitation, conflict-resolution and organizational change skills.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
Perks and benefits:
- Comprehensive benefits - enjoy Udemy for Business, private medical care, Multisport card, veterinary package, language lessons, and shopping vouchers.
