Responsibilities

• Lead Scrum ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Stand‑ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives focusing on flow and predictability.
• Support SAFe alignment: PI Planning, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt, cross-team coordination.
• Coach teams on Agile principles, Scrum, Kanban, Lean; raise team maturity and self‑organization.
• Identify, track, and remove blockers; manage risks and dependencies across teams and ART leadership.
• Use metrics (velocity, throughput, cycle time) to guide continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineering Managers, QA, DevOps, Architecture for clarity of requirements and delivery alignment.
• Promote engineering excellence: automated testing, CI/CD, governance adherence.
• Provide clear updates to ART leadership and stakeholders.
• Foster transparency and psychological safety across teams.

Role Overview

The Senior Scrum Master is a servant‑leader and Agile delivery expert supporting multiple cross‑functional development teams within a SAFe Scaled Agile environment. This role drives disciplined Agile execution, fosters continuous improvement, removes impediments, and partners closely with Product, Engineering, Architecture, and DevOps leaders to deliver high‑quality, customer‑focused technology solutions at scale. This role provides informal mentorship and plays a critical part in elevating Agile maturity across teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Agile Facilitation — Lead Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand‑ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives with a focus on flow, transparency, and predictable delivery.
• SAFe Alignment — Support PI Planning, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and cross‑team coordination to ensure alignment with Agile Release Train (ART) objectives.
• Team Coaching — Mentor teams on Agile principles, Scrum practices, Kanban flow, and Lean thinking; elevate team maturity and self‑organization.
• Impediment Removal — Identify, track, and eliminate blockers; manage risks and dependencies across teams and ART leadership.
• Delivery Optimization — Use metrics such as velocity, throughput, cycle time, and predictability to guide continuous improvement and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration — Partner with Product Owners, Engineering Managers, QA, DevOps, and Architecture to ensure clarity of requirements, technical readiness, and delivery alignment.
• Quality & Compliance — Promote engineering excellence, automated testing, CI/CD adoption, and adherence to enterprise governance standards.
• Stakeholder Communication — Provide clear, concise updates on team progress, risks, and outcomes to ART leadership and business stakeholders.
• Agile Culture Building — Foster transparency, collaboration, psychological safety, and continuous improvement across teams.

Required Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of experience as a Scrum Master supporting application development teams in enterprise environments.
• Strong experience working within SAFe (Agile Release Trains, PI Planning, cross‑team dependency management).
• Demonstrated success coaching teams through Agile maturity growth and delivering high‑impact software solutions.
• Deep understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Lean) and modern engineering practices (CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps).
• Ability to analyze delivery metrics and use data to drive improvement and decision‑making.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, conflict‑resolution, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or Rally.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAFe certifications (SSM, SASM, SAFe Practitioner).
• Background coaching multiple teams simultaneously within a scaled Agile environment.
• Familiarity with cloud‑native development, microservices, or API‑driven architectures.
• Exposure to applying AI‑driven tools or automation within the SDLC.
