Job summary

Restek is seeking a Senior Scientist - Reference Standards in Bellefonte (US). The role focuses on synthesizing and purifying reference standards, including PFAS and PAHs, and transferring optimized processes to Manufacturing. You will mentor junior chemists, document results, and present findings.

You will perform hands-on chemistry at the bench, with occasional internal travel, while adhering to EH&S guidelines and company SOPs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant chemistry experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Hands-on experience with organic synthesis and purification techniques such as distillation, recrystallization, and chromatography.
• Strong documentation habits and the ability to write clear thorough SOPs.
• Experience with PFAS, PAHs, pesticides, or similar compound classes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize, purify, and optimize reference standard compounds, including PFAS, PAHs, and pesticides.
• Perform hands-on synthesis and purification work using small scale synthesis equipment and chromatography.
• Write and maintain SOPs and experience reports documenting procedures and results.
• Support the transfer of optimized processes into Manufacturing, partnering with Analytical Development and Product Management.
