Job summary

Uber is seeking a highly analytical scientist for the Rider Pricing and Incentives team to turn data into pricing algorithms that guide every ride decision in our global mobility marketplace. You will bridge theory and business impact, collaborating with product, engineering, and operations to design, test, and productionize scalable pricing solutions.

PhD/MS/BS in a quantitative field with 5+ years of experience; strong background in optimization, ML, econometrics, and causal inference;

Qualifications

• PhD, MS, or BS in quantitative field (OR/DS/Stats/Econ/Math/CS).
• 5+ years in industry as Applied Scientist/Data Scientist/Economist (or 3+ with PhD).
• Strong foundation in control theory, optimization, stats, ML, or econometrics.
• Proficiency in Python/R and SQL for large-scale data analysis and prototyping.
• Experience designing and interpreting complex experiments across marketplace performance.

Responsibilities

• Build, scale, and optimize models for dynamic pricing applications.
• Generate data insights to improve algorithm performance.
• Develop experimentation and causal inference methodologies for complex marketplaces.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations to drive end-to-end systems.
• Translate data and optimization results into actionable leadership strategies.
• Unblock barriers by designing diagnostic tools and metrics.
