Job summary

Uber in Sunnyvale, CA seeks an experienced Applied Scientist/Data Scientist to advance dynamic pricing through statistical and ML models. You will bridge technical depth with real-world impact, collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Operations to drive end-to-end systems from ideation to production.

You will design experiments, perform causal inference, and translate complex results into actionable business strategies for leadership.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field.
• 5+ years of industry experience as an applied scientist, data scientist, economist, or equivalent (or 3+ years with a Ph.D.).
• Strong foundation in at least one domain: control theory, optimization, statistics, ML, econometrics.
• Proficiency in Python/R and SQL for large-scale data analysis and prototyping.
• Experience designing and interpreting complex experiments across KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Build, scale, and optimize statistical, mathematical programming, and ML models for dynamic pricing.
• Generate data insights to improve algorithm performance.
• Develop experimentation and causal inference methodologies for complex marketplaces.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations to identify growth opportunities and drive end-to-end systems.
• Translate data and optimization results into actionable strategies for leadership.
• Design robust diagnostic tools and logging to unblock technical and operational barriers.
