Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Scientist to advance quantitative bioimaging in support of immunology discovery research. You will develop imaging, computer-vision, and ML approaches across 2D/3D models, collaborating with wet-lab and computational teams to translate biological questions into rigorous analysis.

The role combines hands-on image-analysis delivery with evaluating advanced AI/ML methods, including segmentation and representation learning, to drive insights for immunology programs.

Qualifications

• Experience developing quantitative image-analysis or computational solutions involving segmentation, feature extraction, phenotypic profiling, or object classification.
• Experience with imaging modalities such as confocal or high-content imaging.
• Proficiency with the Python data-science stack (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch) and ML approaches.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and apply imaging assays and quantitative image-analysis workflows for 2D and 3D cellular and tissue models to characterize phenotypes.
• Collaborate with wet-lab, imaging, and computational scientists from design through data delivery.
• Extract biologically meaningful, multiparametric features from high-content datasets and relate them to disease phenotypes and treatment responses.
• Apply statistical, ML, and DL methods to identify imaging biomarkers and relate phenotypes to readouts.
• Integrate imaging data with multimodal datasets (molecular, single-cell, spatial, perturbational).
• Establish quality-control and evaluation frameworks for image and assay quality.
• Maintain records; analyze, visualize, and present results to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Communicate methods and results clearly to cross-functional teams.
• Stay current with advances in quantitative bioimaging and AI/ML; evaluate application opportunities.
