Job summary

Ampersand Biomedicines is seeking a Senior Scientist I to build and apply cell-based, high-throughput capabilities for engineered antibody and protein variant library screening in a fast-paced biotech environment.

The role interfaces molecular biology, cell biology, and microfluidics, requiring hands-on leadership in developing new biological systems and integrating assays into robust platform workflows for discovery. Boston location.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MS with relevant industry experience
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and assays
  • Experience leading development of biological assays, preferably high-throughput
  • Knowledge of antibody biology or protein engineering
  • Ability to design experiments, troubleshoot, and interpret data
  • Experience with fluorescence-based detection platforms such as flow cytometry or microscopy

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with molecular biology scientists to define vector designs and assay-readiness criteria
  • Establish workflows for transfecting, expanding, and selecting library cell populations
  • Lead development and optimization of droplet-compatible assays for high-throughput screening
  • Develop pathway-responsive reporter-cell assays for functional screening
  • Optimize assay performance for robustness, sensitivity, reproducibility, and scalability
  • Partner with microfluidics engineers to integrate assays into screening workflows
  • Analyze and interpret data to guide assay optimization and platform development
  • Document workflows and communicate findings across cross-functional teams
