Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Senior Research Scientist, Molecular & Cell Biology to join the Human Cell Models group in Boston Research. You will develop, characterize, and apply physiologically relevant human neuronal models using iPSCs and primary cells to deepen understanding of disease biology, identify therapeutic opportunities, and support the advancement of novel drug discovery programs.

Qualifications

• PhD in Stem Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Neuroscience, or related field.
• At least four years of postdoctoral and/or industry experience.
• Hands-on experience developing iPSC-derived neuronal models.
• Experience supporting therapeutic discovery programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, analyze, and communicate cellular and molecular biology studies for disease modeling and drug discovery.
• Develop and optimize human neuronal models using iPSC-derived systems and primary cells.
• Lead end-to-end iPSC model development including reprogramming and differentiation.
• Apply assays to investigate disease mechanisms and validate targets.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and translate findings into program decisions.
