Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Scientist II to lead analytical characterization of mRNA-based therapeutics and lipid nanoparticles. The role focuses on developing robust methods for RNA and lipids, routine assay work, optimization, and automation, partnering with discovery, formulation and process development teams to advance product understanding and candidate selection.

Qualifications

• Experience developing analytical methods for RNA, oligonucleotides, lipids, biologics, or other complex modalities.
• Demonstrated ability to independently define scientific approaches and lead analytical activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead analytical method development and characterization activities for mRNA drug substance and mRNA-based LNP programs.
• Develop and troubleshoot fit-for-purpose methods for RNA, lipids, impurities, oligonucleotides, and proteins using LC, UV, MS, and other modes.
• Design analytical strategies supporting product characterization, process understanding, and stability.
• Establish efficient workflows for testing, data processing, and interpretation.
• Collaborate with formulation, discovery, process development and cross-functional teams to characterize LNPs and product quality.
