Job summary

EyePoint in Watertown, MA seeks a Sr Scientist I to lead pre-formulation and solid‑state development for intravitreal drug products. The role requires a PhD or Master with extensive pharma formulation experience and hands-on analytical capabilities to drive API progression from discovery to filing.

The candidate will collaborate across Drug Substance, Analytical, and Formulation Development, manage internal teams and external vendors, and ensure robust regulatory documentation and process

Qualifications

• PhD: at least 5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry
• Master: at least 10 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry
• Strong lab skills with independently carrying out pre-formulation research
• Experience leading cross-functional development teams and external vendor activities
• Knowledge of regulatory expectations for pharmaceutical development and filing

Responsibilities

• Work with Drug Substance, Analytical Development, and Formulation Development to progress API from discovery to manufacturing
• Perform pre-formulation studies and solid-state characterization for APIs and guide formulation strategy
• Design and execute crystallization processes with form control, particle size, yield, and purity considerations
• Identify and deploy new solid-state characterization technologies as needed
• Prepare pre-formulation and development reports for regulatory submissions
• Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
• Maintain awareness of current laws and regulations in pharma/biotech
