Job summary

EyePoint Pharmaceuticals in Watertown, MA seeks a Scientist II to lead pre-formulation and solid-state development for intravitreal drug products. You will partner with Formulation, Analytical, and Drug Substance teams to advance APIs from discovery toward potential commercialization.

Required: PhD or Master in Materials/Pharmaceutical Sciences with strong characterization skills (PLM, SEM, PXRD, TGA, DSC, DVS, NMR, FTIR, Raman, UV/Vis) and proficient scientific writing and communication.

Qualifications

• Expertise in pre-formulation development of small molecules.
• Strong lab skills with a Can-Do attitude; independently carry out pre-formulation research.
• Highly skilled in characterization techniques (PLM, SEM, PXRD, TGA, DSC, DVS, NMR, FTIR, Raman, UV/Vis).
• Ability to organize project goals and deliver long-term projects on time.

Responsibilities

• Work with Drug Substance, Analytical Development, and Formulation Development to progress API from discovery to manufacturing.
• Contribute to understanding drug substance attributes—solubility, polymorphism, morphology, and stability; conceive formulation strategy.
• Design and execute crystallization processes focusing on form control, particle size/morphology, yield, and purity.
• Prepare pre-formulation and development reports for regulatory submissions.
• Ensure all work complies with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations in pharma/biotech.
