Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Principal Scientist to advance human genetics-driven drug discovery across inflammatory, cardiorenal metabolic, and cancer immunology areas. You will perform GWAS, meta-analysis, and QTL evaluation on biobank-scale datasets to guide disease biology and translational concepts.

The role requires project leadership, mentoring, and clear communication to diverse scientific and business audiences.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, Computational Biology, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of post-PhD experience in disease translation.
  • In-depth knowledge in one Boehringer Ingelheim disease focus area.
  • Strong genetics expertise with proven disease translation outputs.
  • Extensive computing and programming experience in relevant languages.
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to advance therapeutic strategies using human genetics evidence.
  • Contribute to analyses and to building datasets and analytic capabilities with the global team.
  • Excel in strategic initiatives and provide expert insights in project work.
  • Lead, collaborate, and communicate across internal departments and with external partners.
  • Contribute knowledge of biobank-scale clinicogenomic data and translational applications.
  • Plan, prioritize and manage genetics analysis and interpretation for research projects.
