Job summary

Vir Biotechnology in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Scientist I to lead formulation development and process optimization for parenteral antibodies and biologics. This role blends hands-on lab work with technical leadership across programs and external partners.

You will design DoE-based studies, guide tech transfer to contract manufacturers, and contribute to regulatory-ready documents. PhD with 5+ years (or equivalent) and lyophilization/prefilled-syringe experience are preferred; onsite 5

Qualifications

• PhD with 5+ years, Master’s with 8+ years, or Bachelor’s with 10+ years in biosciences or related.
• Expertise in formulation and drug product development for monoclonal antibodies and biologics; lyophilization and prefilled syringe experience preferred.
• Experience with experimental design (DoE), data analysis, and statistical programs for formulation screening and optimization.
• Strong knowledge of analytical methods for formulation assessments.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and external collaborations.
• Experience authoring development reports and regulatory filings.

Responsibilities

• Scientific leadership of formulation development and process optimization for parenteral dosage forms of monoclonal antibodies and biologics.
• Design and execute in-house studies, including formulation screening, in-use stability studies, and analytical characterization using DoE.
• Provide technical direction and oversight for internal/external DP development and manufacturing activities, including data review and risk assessment.
• Lead tech transfer of manufacturing processes to contract manufacturers with cross-functional alignment.
• Author and review high-impact technical reports, regulatory submissions, and scientific publications.
• Represent Drug Product and Formulation and Device Development on cross-functional teams, contributing to strategy and timelines.
• Ensure scientific oversight for data from internal teams and CRO/CMO partners; uphold best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement and adopt new technologies to strengthen capabilities.
