POSITION SUMMARY

Epsilon is seeking a full-time senior scientist or engineer to work as part of the Epsilon team on a wide range of environmental licensing, permitting and compliance projects. This position will encompass work primarily in the Acoustics Group.

In the Acoustics Group, the candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously and have the opportunity to represent the company at public meetings. Attendance at INCE-related meetings and conferences will also be strongly encouraged and supported. Primary tasks include:
  1. Project management
  2. Sound level modeling
  3. Report preparation
  4. Leading sound level measurement programs
  5. Business development
This position requires periodic fieldwork as well as overnight, out-of-state travel for renewable energy projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have:
  1. 7-12 years of experience in a consulting environment
  2. B.S. or B.A. in Acoustics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or Physics
  3. Membership in the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE) of the USA
  4. Experience in conducting community sound level impact assessments
  5. Experience in using sound level measurement equipment
  6. Experience with the CadnaA modeling software
  7. Superior written and verbal communication skills
  8. Experience in presenting technical material to clients, agency staff, and/or regulatory boards
  9. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary project team
The successful applicant will also have strong organizational skills, be detail oriented, and have project management experience. Experience in the energy industry, materials handling business, and transportation/FHWA TNM modeling is a plus. In addition, experience in noise control engineering is preferred.

In addition to the Preferred Qualifications, the Candidate must have a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle for business travel, including proper insurance and registration and have all necessary paperwork to work in the USA.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB

The Candidate must:
  1. Be able to work safely outside in variable weather conditions for an extended period of time, as necessary
  2. Work on a computer for extended periods of time
  3. Be able to travel outside of the state via plane or car, for extended periods of time
  4. Be able to carry approximately 50 pounds on either paved paths, trails, or in fields

WORKING CONDITIONS IN WHICH THE DUTIES ARE PERFORMED

This is a fully remote position. There is the potential for occasional in-person attendance at the Maynard, MA home office for all-staff meetings or specific acoustic group/corporate events. The candidate must maintain a work environment suitable for business activities including internet access. Epsilon will provide office electronics such as a laptop and monitor along with access to software necessary to complete required duties.
