Lyten is leading an industrial revolution through Lyten 3D Graphene™, a breakthrough supermaterial unlocking a new generation of products—from lithium-sulfur batteries to advanced sensors and concrete admixtures.

We are seeking a Senior Scientist, Electrolyte to lead the development, optimization, and scale-up of electrolyte chemistries, establish SEI/CEI stability, and translate bench results into high-performance cell designs within Lyten's battery R&D program.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or Master’s with 3+ years in a relevant field (battery topic)
• Bachelor’s with 5+ years in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• Experience developing electrolyte formulations for Li-S/Li-metal systems
• Ability to establish battery composition-property relationships via electrochemical/analytical methods

Responsibilities

• Develop novel electrolyte formulations for Lyten’s next-gen sulfur cathodes and lithium alloy anodes
• Establish electrolyte composition–cell performance relationships using electrochemical and analytical techniques
• Collaborate with R&D and Engineering to co-optimize cell components and designs
• Coordinate with Supply Chain and Quality to set specifications and qualify new suppliers
• Contribute to IP through high-quality electrolyte-related inventions

Job Description:

We are looking for an innovative and data-driven Senior Scientist, Electrolyte to join our battery R&D team. In this role, you will lead the development, optimization, and scale-up of advanced electrolyte chemistries tailored for next-generation lithium-sulfur and lithium-metal battery systems. You will play a pivotal role in engineering stable solid-electrolyte interphases (SEI/CEI), optimizing ion-transport kinetics, establishing deep composition-property relationships, and translating bench-top formulations into scalable, high-performance cell designs.

Job Responsibilities :

• Develop novel electrolyte formulations, including base salt/solvent packages and additives tailored for Lyten's next-generation 3D Graphene sulfur cathodes and advanced lithium alloy anodes, to meet Lyten's ambitious product performance, cycle life, and safety targets.
• Establish robust electrolyte composition - property - cell performance relationships with a combination of electrochemical and advanced analytical techniques, and drive a deep mechanistic understanding of cell behavior to guide electrolyte development.
• Work closely with R&D and Engineering teams to co-optimize cell components and cell design.
• Work closely with Supply Chain and Quality teams to establish robust quality specifications for electrolyte components and formulations, and qualify new suppliers.
• Generate high-quality intellectual property to contribute to Lyten's competitive differentiation.
• Maintain shared lab space in clean and orderly condition and follow all established safety rules and regulations and utilize required safety equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

• Doctorate degree on a battery topic ... OR Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., chemistry (electrical), materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and chemical engineering) AND 3+ years of experience in a relevant field ...
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., chemistry (electrical), materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and chemical engineering) AND 5+ years of experience in a relevant field... OR equivalent experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to travel between facilities and lift up to 70 pounds
• No physical limitation to wear PPE, including respirators when required

Compensations Range:

The expected base salary range for this position is between $128,200.00 - $192,400.00 The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
