Merck & Co., Inc. in West Point, NY seeks a Senior Scientist to advance drug discovery through formulation, solid state and analytical chemistry tools. You will engage with Safety Assessment, Process Research, Analytical Chemistry, Drug Metabolism and Vaccines to progress clinical candidates.

The position emphasizes high-throughput automation, formulation strategy, and cross-functional teamwork across modalities including small molecules, peptides, proteins, vaccines and biotherapeutics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD with <1 year.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in pre-clinical/clinical formulation development and automation troubleshooting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct high-throughput automated experiments for pre-clinical characterization.
• Create and deploy automation to improve efficiency, miniaturization, and predictive sciences.
• Address stability of drug candidates and enhance bio-performance with formulation strategies.
• Identify suitable oral and parenteral preclinical formulations across modalities for studies.
