Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Principal Scientist to join the Vaccine Discovery Analytical Research team in West Point, PA. You will lead assay development, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate with cross-functional groups to advance discovery to development and streamline data transfer to downstream organizations.

The role requires strong analytical abilities, excellent communication and presentation skills, and a track record of publications.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with at least 3 years experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Immunology, or related field.
• Strong publication record and ability to present findings clearly.
• Experience with analytical method development and protein-small molecule interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead assay development and contribute to program-level scientific goals.
• Mentor junior scientists and guide project teams.
• Collaborate with partner groups to advance from discovery to development and transfer analytical work downstream.
• Evaluate new technologies and drive analytical innovations.
