Job summary

MSD is seeking a Senior Scientist in Rahway, NJ to advance the lab of the future with automation that connects robotics, instrumentation, and software. You will collaborate with researchers to turn experimental needs into scalable workflows and lead high-impact projects from concept to deployment.

The role demands hands-on work, strong programming experience, and the ability to communicate across technicians, vendors, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Engineering or closely related field with expected graduation by Dec 2026
• M.S. in Engineering with at least 2 years relevant experience
• B.S. in Engineering with at least 4 years relevant experience
• Experience in lab automation and equipment integration
• Experience with scripting/programming following best practices (VC, design patterns)

Responsibilities

• Design automation systems integrating robotics, instrumentation, and software
• Translate experimental needs into scalable automated workflows
• Lead high-impact projects from concept to deployment
• Improve existing automation platforms for performance and reliability
• Provide hands-on support, troubleshooting, and training to scientists
