Job summary

Tempus AI, Inc. is seeking a Principal Scientist for the Data Insights and Hypothesis Design team. You will ensure the scientific coherence of Tempus' multimodal data platform, bridging molecular science and scalable data engineering.

Strong computational, statistical, and translational research skills are required. You will anchor data strategy across diseases, prototype data offerings, and deliver production-grade data models.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative, NGS-related discipline (e.g., Computational Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology)
• 6+ years of industry experience in precision medicine, translational research, or related areas
• Deep expertise in oncology, neurology, or immunology
• Experience analyzing large-scale clinico-genomic datasets across diseases
• Experience collaborating with data engineering and platform teams to build large-scale databases
• Knowledge of cutting-edge AI models and generative architectures for biology
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for reproducible analysis and visualization
• Strong cross-functional communication and mentorship abilities

Responsibilities

• Data evaluation and prototyping; write SQL, R, Python code
• Translate client objectives into clinico-genomic data strategies
• Serve as scientific authority across the organization; perform UAT and build data insight reports
• Support growth of Tempus' clinical-genomic footprint across diseases, focusing on neurology and immunology
