Job summary

MSD in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to supervise daily operations in the Bioanalytical Laboratory. You will oversee transfer and qualification/validation of assays, reagents, and instruments for regulated sample testing, ensuring on-time project delivery and GLP/GCLP compliance.

The role may supervise others and requires a Bachelor's (Master preferred) in biology/chemistry and 6 years of relevant experience, with expertise in immunoassays and MSD platform usage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related scientific discipline is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on work experience in biological sample testing or reagent/assay development in an industrial setting is preferred.
• Experience with running immunoassays/ligand-binding assays is highly preferred.
• Training in and experience with GLP and/or GCLP is required.
• BSL-2 techniques and work in a high throughput lab are required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise or independently execute studies in the Bioanalytical Laboratory per SOPs.
• Support procurement of reagents and materials for planned studies.
• Review documentation, data capture, logbooks, and batch records.
• Interpret results, troubleshoot, and ensure data validity.
• Oversee transfer and qualification/validation of assays for routine testing.
• Adhere to GLP/GCLP and safety policies; mentor and evaluate staff.
