Job summary

FUJIFILM Biosciences in Irvine, CA is seeking a Senior Scientist I to independently develop advanced analytical methods and lead MS-based proteomics, biologics characterization, and bioprocessing projects. The role includes supervising researchers, data analysis, and cross-functional support for product development.

The candidate will guide experimental design, implement workflow improvements, and mentor team members while collaborating with internal partners to advance life-science solutions.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S./Ph.D. with extensive relevant experience in life sciences or engineering.
• 10+ years in relevant field; Bioprocessing/Chemistry/Biochemistry emphasis.
• Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics: high-resolution MS proficiency for peptide mapping, proteomics, PTMs, small molecule characterization.
• Biologics: monoclonal antibody analysis and spent media evaluation.
• Analytical instrumentation: MS, HPLC/UPLC, ICP-MS, UV-Vis; solid-state methods.
• Data software & automation: Protein Metrics, Python, R; automation in bioprocessing.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex R&D projects from concept to completion.
• Oversee experimental design, data analysis, and presentations.
• Mentor and supervise team members; manage budgets and timelines.
• Independently perform advanced data analysis on complex datasets.
• Develop new testing methods and workflows for product development.
• Troubleshoot equipment and processes; drive process improvements.
• Interpret literature to inform experimental design and decisions.
