Job summary

FUJIFILM Biosciences in Irvine, CA is seeking a Research Scientist, Raw Material Characterization to develop and improve analytical methods for characterizing raw materials and impurities in cell culture media.

You will use ICP-MS and LC-MS, collaborate with R&D teams, and prepare reports and customer-facing presentations. Requires advanced degree or extensive experience in analytical chemistry and GMP/GLP familiarity; strong English communication.

Qualifications

BS/BA in science, engineering or bioscience with 7+ years, MS with 5+ years, or PhD with 0-2 years eff.
Minimum 2 years' experience in analytical method development using ICP-MS and LC-MS.
Ability to apply company policies to solve complex problems.
Demonstrated scientific creativity and teamwork, with independent thought.
Advanced knowledge of Cell Culture, Biochemistry, and Analytical Chemistry.
Proficiency with common lab equipment and software.
Familiarity with GMP/GLP procedures and project management.
Excellent English communication, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

Develop robust ICP-MS and LC-MS methods for trace metal and small-molecule analysis.
Troubleshoot ICP-MS performance issues using complementary techniques.
Provide analytical support for Raw Material Characterization services.
Support other R&D groups with analytical input.
Develop expertise aligned with products and objectives.
Analyze data and prepare summary reports.
Design experiments for customer requests and custom needs.
Prepare formal reports and customer-facing presentations.
Support QC with ICP-MS instrument and sample prep methods.
