The Fischer Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a Structural and Chemical Biology lab that combines molecular biology, computational biology, structural biology, and chemistry with various ‘Omics’ techniques such as proteomics to study pathways and protein complexes involved in the regulation of protein abundance via the ubiquitin proteasome system, often associated with human diseases including cancer. The lab integrates structural biology, molecular biology, and computational approaches to address fundamental questions about signaling mechanisms in the ubiquitin proteasome system.

The Fischer Lab (https://fischerlab.org/) seeks a highly motivated individual to join as a SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST and project manager, leading projects focused on drug discovery. Responsibilities include project management, study coordination, experiment design and execution, and liaising with contract research organizations. A background in biochemistry, chemical biology, and experience in small molecule drug discovery within a matrixed organization is essential.

Our lab is based at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Longwood Center, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. We have state-of-the-art facilities for structural biology (cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, NMR), chemistry, biophysics, cellular imaging, and mass spectrometry (including timsTOF and Orbitrap tribrid). Join our team of scientists, postdocs, and technicians to work on signaling pathways and therapeutic development.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plan, manage, and perform experiments and projects, develop proposals, and monitor milestones.
  2. Develop and evaluate new biochemical assay systems and workflows.
  3. Perform purification of recombinant proteins and complexes from various cells.
  4. Support small molecule drug discovery projects.
  5. Analyze data and determine next steps.
  6. Train staff and supervise projects.
  7. Communicate project progress and deliverables.
  8. Lead process improvements to enhance productivity.
  9. Establish collaborations with internal and external experts and CROs.
  10. Prepare scientific presentations and publications.
  11. Maintain accurate experimental records.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in biochemistry, chemical biology, or related field, with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in assay development (in-vitro and cellular).
  • Strong expertise in protein biochemistry, purification, and biophysical methods.
  • Experience in recombinant protein expression and purification.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven publication record.
  • Ability to analyze data, publish research, and communicate results.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

Dana-Farber is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
