Job summary

Audubon Florida seeks a Science Specialist to serve as the lead scientific advisor on Lake Okeechobee and related restoration, water management, habitat, and wildlife conservation issues. The position is remote within the Southern Orlando or West Palm Beach area and may require relocation to nearby counties; hybrid work is expected with in-office Mondays and Tuesdays in addition to monthly days chosen by the employee.

Qualified candidates will hold an advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in ecology, environmental science, or related field preferred.
• At least 5 years of work experience in ecology, hydrology, or related fields.
• Experience interfacing with government agencies and conservation partners.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate ecological conditions of Lake Okeechobee and Northern Everglades.
• Inform policy proposals for restoration project designs and operations.
• Translate scientific information into actionable recommendations for decision-makers.
• Prepare technical comments, briefing materials, and educational resources.
• Support outreach through presentations, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
