Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools in Germantown, MD, is seeking a Building Service Manager III for Capt. James Daly Elementary School. The role covers building operations, safety, and grounds management with 8-hour shifts for a 12-month term.

Immediate involvement, with potential overtime and night work as needed. The position requires advanced knowledge of building service practices, supervision of staff, and the ability to manage time/material records and maintenance work orders.

Qualifications

• MCPS written test is required.
• Advanced knowledge of methods, materials, and practices used in building service work.
• Operates and maintains custodial and grounds care equipment including scrubbers, burnishers, snow blowers and lift.
• Safety procedures and PPE; manage resources to ensure quality service and safe environment.
• Train, supervise and inspect subordinates; maintain time/material records and routine reports.
• Use computer technology to order supplies, process maintenance work orders and communicate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage the school plant, building operations, and grounds at the assigned site.
• Ensure sanitary, safety, and operating standards and security of the school plant.
• Supervise building service staff and coordinate with principal/designee and area supervisor.
• Respond as emergency personnel during inclement weather and incidents.
• Oversee equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
