Job summary

Lewiston Public Schools is seeking a Head Custodian for Geiger Elementary School. The role focuses on keeping the district facilities in top condition to prevent interruptions to education and to support a safe, clean environment for students and staff.

The position requires leadership of custodial staff, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to handle on-call duties and emergency repairs as needed. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with prior custodian experience a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two years custodian experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Supervises 4+ individuals and coordinates custodial activities.
• Familiarity with basic maintenance tasks and safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Instructs custodians on building and grounds maintenance.
• Assists in scheduling additional custodial time.
• Acts as the point of contact for administration and staff.
• On-call availability may be required 24/7.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Cleans designated spaces and performs preventive maintenance.
• Coordinates snow and ice removal for school openings.
• Maintains SDS notebook and safety documentation.
