Insight Global is seeking a Senior Scheduler to lead project controls on a portfolio of Data Center, Life Sciences, and infrastructure projects. The role emphasizes on-site collaboration in the Chicago area with private clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure schedule integrity and milestone achievement.

The candidate will develop and maintain CPM schedules, perform TIAs, and present schedule metrics to leadership, driving informed decision-making and risk mitigation throughout project

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of project controls experience.
  • Experience with building construction or data centers.
  • Strong ability to lead client-facing schedule reviews.
  • Proficiency in schedule performance analyses and TIAs.

Responsibilities

Job Description

A large engineering client is seeking a Senior Scheduler to join our Project Controls team out of our Chicago, IL with requirements to support a private client on site in southern Wisconsin. This role will support a growing and increasingly complex portfolio of transportation, transit, and major infrastructure projects across the country. The ideal candidate brings extensive construction knowledge, experience in Data Center and Life Science projects, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse project teams and work on-site. This is a senior-level role for someone who can operate independently, interface with clients, and elevate the quality of project controls deliverables

Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Project Controls Leadership
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze complex CPM schedules for large-scale Data Center, Life Sciences, transportation, transit, and infrastructure programs using industry-standard scheduling software.
  • Serve as the lead scheduling resource for client-facing engagements, providing strategic schedule guidance, performance assessments, and actionable recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage baseline schedules, progress updates, recovery plans, time impact analyses, and what-if scenarios to support informed project decision-making.
  • Lead schedule development and integration efforts across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, qualification, and startup activities to ensure alignment with project objectives and milestone commitments.
Contractor & Client Schedule Review
  • Review and analyze contractor schedule submissions, periodic updates, recovery schedules, and Time Impact Analyses (TIAs) for compliance with contract requirements and industry best practices.
  • Evaluate schedule impacts associated with change orders, claims, delays, and disruptions, providing independent analysis and recommendations to project leadership and clients.
  • Assess schedule logic, sequencing, phasing, resource loading, and progress measurement methodologies to improve schedule quality, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, construction managers, contractors, designers, commissioning teams, and field personnel to validate construction execution strategies and schedule assumptions.
  • Facilitate schedule review workshops and progress meetings, driving resolution of schedule concerns and alignment among project stakeholders.
Coordination & Communication
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for schedule-related discussions with private sector clients, program leadership, project teams, contractors, and executive stakeholders.
  • Present schedule status, performance trends, critical path impacts, key milestones, and recovery recommendations during client and project team meetings.
  • Develop executive-level schedule reports, dashboards, and analytics that provide clear visibility into project performance, risks, and forecast outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in both office and on-site environments to support successful project delivery.
Skills and Requirements
  • 8+ years of project controls experience
  • Scheduling work understand how to resource load
  • Experience in commercial
  • Building construction or data centers experience (oil and gas or utilities doesn’t transfer well, no turnaround) – process equipment, valves, piping
  • Experience working in commercial sector (companies like JLL, hospitals, semi conductor, industrial manufacturing, (defense contractor type work – Lockheed martin), airports
  • Experience scheduling vertical construction process -> civil architectural, MEP, interior fit out work
  • Experience with design build or major capital program scheduling
  • Experience reviewing contractor schedules in a CM, PM, or owner side role
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple concurrent projects in a fast paced environment
  • Power BI experience
  • Experience using Earned Value Management for reporting
