Job summary

TrueNorth® is seeking an experienced Senior Scala Developer for a predominantly remote role in the United Kingdom. The position involves designing and building scalable backend services, REST APIs and microservices within a large-scale digital services programme.

You will work in an Agile environment, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, review code, mentor juniors and help improve performance, security and maintainability of live systems.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience in Scala development in enterprise environments.
• Excellent understanding of functional programming principles.
• Experience building backend applications, REST APIs and microservices.
• Experience with Scala Play Framework or similar backend frameworks.
• Knowledge of clean code and maintainable architecture.
• Experience with automated testing (unit and integration).
• Familiarity with Git, sbt and IntelliJ IDEA.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience supporting production applications.
• Strong debugging and performance optimisation skills.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum environments.
• Familiarity with Linux or macOS development environments.
