Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services Limited in Jersey City, NJ seeks an Engineer to design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Scala. Build scalable REST APIs, integrate with internal/external systems, and contribute to the post-trade technology roadmap.

You will collaborate with product, QA, and business teams in an Agile environment, perform unit tests, code reviews, and deployment support, while shaping scalable, reusable components and ensuring quality across the stack.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on development in Core Java and Scala.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise backend services.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming, data structures, and design patterns.
• Experience with REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Familiar with Bitbucket and Agile software development practices.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to develop scalable, reusable, and maintainable components.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain backend services using Java and Scala.
• Build scalable and reliable solutions supporting Bond Trade Processing.
• Develop and integrate APIs with internal and external systems.
• Support the organization’s strategic Post Trade Technology roadmap.
• Develop reusable components that follow established architecture and coding standards.
• Design and implement services using Spring Boot where applicable.
• Develop and support event-driven solutions using Kafka.
• Analyze existing platform functionality and support migration to strategic technology solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, Product Owners, QA professionals, and other development teams.
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to solution architecture.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, code reviews, and defect resolution.
• Troubleshoot application issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Support deployments, release validation, and production issue resolution.
• Maintain technical documentation for design, APIs, and integrations.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and delivery activities.
• Follow SDLC, security, coding, testing, and release-management standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
