Job summary

West Fraser is recruiting a Head Sawfiler for our Manning, Alberta operation. Reporting to Maintenance Superintendent, you will lead the Saw Filing Department and drive safe, efficient production in a lumber-oriented facility.

Preference given to those with prior wood remanufacturing or mill experience, including benching and tuning of saws. A competitive compensation package and benefits are offered in a stable, growth-minded company.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Sawfiler certification preferred.
• Experience leading a saw filing/maintenance team.
• Knowledge of saw design, speeds, and feeds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety in saw filing operations.
• Achieve production targets for the shop.
• Inspect, maintain, and calibrate precision equipment.
• Enforce filing shop quality control standards.
• Design and optimize saws for performance.
• Calculate saw speeds and feeds for projects.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and tooling.
• Troubleshoot saws and inspect for defects.
• Manage saw box water and lubrication.
