Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Senior Satellite Thermal Engineer to own the thermal performance of one or more TeraWave LRUs, from requirements through production release. You will develop robust, testable models and drive trades to balance performance, mass, and cost.

The role requires 8+ years in spacecraft thermal engineering, proficiency with Thermal Desktop or SINDA/FLUINT, and hands-on thermal testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8+ years hands-on spacecraft thermal engineering experience.
• Proficient with thermal modeling software and model-to-test correlation.
• Experience with spaceborne thermal design in vacuum and radiation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the thermal Responsible Engineer for one or more TeraWave satellite LRUs.
• Define LRU thermal requirements and interfaces with systems and mechanical teams.
• Develop detailed thermal models using Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, or similar.
• Perform transient and steady-state analyses for mission profiles.
• Drive LRU thermal design trades balancing performance, mass, power, and cost.
• Collaborate to ensure thermal constraints are integrated early in design.
• Develop thermal loads from first principles and document results per standards.
• Support hardware development through thermal vacuum testing and data correlation.
• Assess third-party models and develop simplified integration models.
• Develop thermal control procedures for all mission phases.
