Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Satellite Structures and Configuration Engineer III to support spacecraft packaging, mechanical integration, structural interfaces, and configuration across the TeraWave satellite bus in Seattle, WA. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams through design, production, test, and AIT to enable a manufacturable constellation.

The position requires strong CAD skills (CATIA/SolidWorks/NX), 5+ years in spacecraft mechanical design, and a U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in spacecraft mechanical design, configuration and layout engineering.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or similar).
• Experience with mass properties analysis and management.
• Knowledge of spacecraft structural design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with mechanical interface control and configuration management.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical configuration and layout activities for TeraWave spacecraft; optimize component placement.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models and digital mockups for structures and interfaces.
• Support design and development of primary and secondary structures.
• Develop spacecraft packaging concepts balancing mass, space, and thermal needs.
• Carry out first-order layout and mass properties analyses to validate concepts.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve mechanical interface issues between subsystems.
• Generate and maintain technical docs, ICDs, and configuration-management records.
• Support design reviews and provide guidance on mechanical challenges.
• Develop mounting, cable routing, and thermal management solutions for tight spaces.
• Participate in trade studies of configuration options.
