Job summary

HHSC seeks a Senior SAS Developer for a 5-month hybrid role in Austin to automate data workflows for TBIRDS and TB registry modernization. You will drive needs assessments, develop scripts, and build dashboards to streamline eCR ingestion and data integration across systems.

The position requires strong SAS/Python/R skills, health data experience, and the ability to document and share technical solutions with epidemiology and technical staff.

Qualifications

8+ years in SAS, Python, R or similar languages.
Experience with system integration, dashboards, and automation for interoperability workflows.
Experience with health/public health data and databases/querying.
Ability to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Experience testing and validating automated data integration solutions.
Strong documentation skills for code and technical specs.
Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration.
Preferred: eCR/eICR, HL7, XML, FHIR, SQL and ETL.

Responsibilities

Conduct interoperability needs assessment and document requirements.
Develop, test, and maintain SAS, Python, R programs for TBIRDS processes.
Build dashboards and automate data ingestion from electronic case reports.
Test and validate automated workflows; troubleshoot issues.
Support modernization efforts and provide technical recommendations.
