Job summary

Kraken is seeking a Sr. Compliance Associate Lead, Sanctions Operations to join our fully remote team. You will lead sanctions reviews and risk analyses across Kraken's global footprint, applying regulatory judgment to resolve escalations efficiently.

We require 5+ years in sanctions or financial crime compliance, knowledge of OFAC/EU/UK/UN regimes, and strong writing and collaboration skills to work with stakeholders worldwide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in compliance, sanctions or financial crime compliance.
• Working knowledge of OFAC, EU, UK and UN sanctions regimes.
• Experience writing sanctions reviews or investigation narratives.
• Strong analytical and writing skills with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of crypto, banking or payment processes.
• Experience with case management systems such as Hummingbird, Zendesk or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience using automation/AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) for efficiency.
• Effective verbal and written communication across global/regional partners.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and own work products.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform sanctions reviews in response to escalations across Kraken and its users.
• Review name screening and transaction screening alerts; resolve accurately and timely.
• Review blockchain monitoring alerts for sanctions exposure.
• Analyse Kraken accounts for sanctions circumvention risk.
• Review account opening docs escalated by 1LOD.
• Review large data sets to support risk analyses.
• Coordinate with Regional Compliance Officers; reflect regional perspectives.
• Establish streamlined processes using automation and AI with human oversight.
• Prepare regulatory reports in investigations; deliver presentations as needed.
