Job summary

Doeren Mayhew is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) team. You will handle state and local tax compliance and consulting for income, property, and sales tax across a diverse client base.

The role is available in Orlando, FL, and other offices nationwide. Responsibilities include preparing SALT returns, conducting research, assisting audits, and developing planning strategies to minimize liabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or master's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field.
• CPA or CPA track preferred, but not required.
• 2 years of experience in state and local tax, preferably in a public accounting or consulting firm.
• Knowledge of state and local tax laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Office and SALT software as relevant.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or review state and local tax returns for various entities.
• Conduct research and provide SALT technical advice.
• Assist clients with SALT audits, including defense and negotiation.
• Develop and implement SALT planning strategies to minimize liabilities.
• Stay current on SALT laws and communicate changes to clients and team members.
• Research technical SALT matters.
• Mentor and train staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure comprehensive client service.
