Job summary

KPMG LLP in Houston seeks a Senior Manager to lead State and Local Tax (SALT) engagements, advising multi-state clients on sales/use tax concerns, structuring, planning, and controversy/audit defense. You will oversee project delivery and collaborate with auditors to optimize SALT outcomes.

You will mentor staff, drive business development, and manage complex multi-state SALT engagements with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Proven tax research and technical advisory experience on multi-state issues including sales/use, excise, or other indirect taxes.
• Experience in sales and transactions tax refund claims and their development and execution.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent service to multi-state clients with SALT issues including compliance, planning, automation, research and writing, reporting, and controversies/audit defense.
• Partner with clients in analyzing state tax considerations for restructurings and intercompany transactions.
• Lead SALT controversies, prepare discussions with auditors, hearings, and protests.
• Supervise, mentor and develop staff members.
• Participate in business development and delivery of SALT services.
