Job summary

KPMG LLP is actively seeking a Senior Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice in San Francisco. You will lead multi-state tax projects, oversee client engagements, and guide staff through complex SALT issues including compliance, planning, and controversy management.

The role requires strong tax research skills, extensive experience with multi-state taxation, and the ability to develop business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years of tax research and multi-state tax experience.
• Bachelor’s degree; CPA, EA, JD/LLM, MST or CMI credential or on approved list.
• Strong knowledge of the development, planning and execution of sales and transactions tax refund claims.
• Experience with other corporate taxes and their impact on sales tax.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent client service to multi-state companies with SALT issues including compliance, planning, reporting and audits.
• Partner with clients in analyzing state tax considerations related to business restructuring and intercompany transactions.
• Lead SALT controversies, including hearings, protests and interactions with auditors.
• Supervise, mentor and develop staff; participate in business development and service delivery.
