Job summary

Publicis Groupe is seeking an experienced State & Local Tax (SALT) professional to own day-to-day execution of the U.S. state income and franchise tax function, covering a multi-state footprint with ~200 returns, and managing state audits and risk exposures.

This hands-on role offers visibility and a path to full ownership of the SALT function, working closely with the federal tax, accounting, and finance teams to drive efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of experience in state & local tax, Big 4 or strong regional firm background preferred.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing multi-state income/franchise tax returns.
• Direct experience managing state tax audits, including auditor-facing interaction and IDR response drafting.
• Ability to identify tax exposures during compliance and audit processes and develop a recommended response.
• Strong written communication skills — must be able to produce well-reasoned memoranda and responses.

Responsibilities

• Own state income/franchise tax returns for a multi-state footprint (~200 filings).
• Oversee state estimated tax and extension calculations; ensure accuracy and timely submission.
• Lead state tax audits and notices; interact with auditors and draft IDR responses.
• Document tax positions and prepare clear memoranda to support positions.
• Collaborate with federal tax, accounting, and finance teams to ensure alignment.
